The purpose of thls studv IS to evamlne the relat~onsh~bpe tween sulc~def requency and the days of week and month The analys~s was based on data of 10 932 sulcldes from the 2003 vital statlst~cs In Korea In one day 20 6 males and 9 3 females comm~tted sulclde on average In 2003, the number of sulc~de per day was the h~ghest on 4th and 25th In August and 5th In September (52 sulc~des) and the number of sulc~de was lowest on 15th of January (8 sulc~des) durlng the perlod The number of sulc~de was hlghest In August (1 1 5 percent) and the month w~th the lowest number of sulc~de was lanuary (5 5 percent) There was a suic~de peak In the summer season and the lowest lnc~dence In the wlnter season On Yaturdays the number of sulclde per day was the smallest and Monday was the hlghest Sulctde was less Ilkel) to occur on consecutive hol~daqs (the lunar new year’s day and the Thanksglvlng Day) I here Has a seasonal effect on suicide occurrence (pi0 01) the rlsk of sulclde belng greatest In sprlng, and In August and on Monday
